Throwback Time
The retro makeup style is even today a source of inspiration for many women due to the fact that back then makeup was used in a light form just to give women a young, natural and glowing look. Marilyn Monroe was an iconic reflection of the perfect women in terms of attitude, style and looks.

Besides its benefits regarding the look it gives, the makeup from 1940-1960 is also appreciated because of the manner in which it was made. The makeup production mostly consisted of natural ingredients. Of course that is due to the time period as well as back then the makeup industry was not fully aware of what chemicals there are to use for makeup yet. Also there were special places were women could go and have their makeup prepared as they wanted.
One of the most common and well known retro makeup styles is the Pin Up style. The term Pin Up refers to an image or painting of usually female models that are meant to be "pinned on the wall". There were many controversial opinions regarding these pictures as some women used to believe they objectify women and they have a bad influence on women and young girls.

Despite these negative opinions the Pin Up trend is a reference to many of the today's makeup looks.

The Pin Up look is relatively simple and involves simple yet effective details in terms of eye shadow, lipstick or blush. The red lips is almost vital for this look. The cheeks are slightly highlighted with a red or pink blush to give a natural look. This is completed by specific hair styles usually curled hair or up dos.
